FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How much do CDL drivers make?

The trucking industry is experiencing one of the worst driver shortages since the late 1990s, leading to higher demand and increased salaries for qualified CDL drivers.

In the Chicagoland area, truck drivers earn an average salary of $53,000 to $69,000 per year, with opportunities to earn $100,000+ annually through experience, endorsements, and specialized roles.

At Alpha Truck Driving School, we provide comprehensive CDL training to help you get licensed quickly and start earning in weeks. With our job placement assistance, you’ll have access to top trucking companies hiring new CDL drivers.

Can I get a CDL job with a criminal record?

Having a criminal record does not automatically disqualify you from obtaining a CDL license or securing a trucking job. Many trucking companies are willing to hire drivers with past convictions, especially as the demand for CDL drivers continues to grow.

Your eligibility will depend on factors such as the type of offense, how long ago it occurred, and the specific hiring policies of different trucking companies. Certain endorsements, such as HazMat (hazardous materials), may have additional restrictions, but many CDL career paths remain open.
