Can I get a CDL job with a criminal record?

How much do CDL Drivers make.

Currently the job market is experiencing a CDL driver shortage.  The worst one since late 90’s. This has driven the pay of Commercial Drivers to increase significantly. Chicagoland area truck driver salary is in a range of $53,000 to $69,000 annually according to a local recruiting agencies.  Alpha Truck Driving School offers a complete CDL training that will open a gateway to your new career.

How does the CDL training look like?

Alpha Truck Driving School will prepare you for your written exam with a classroom instruction.  Once you will obtain CDL learners permit your education will be focused on the safety inspection of the commercial tractor trailer, proper trip plaining techniques and safety techniques. Upon satisfactory completion of said subject a student will move onto driving range training. Driving training involves 20 hours of practice behind the wheel on local streets and interstate roads, 20 hours of range training and 20 hours of observation.

Are additional endorsements included in the price of the course?

YES, we can provide the knowledge to pass additional endorsements, all you need to do is pay the Secretary of State fee. Alpha Truck Driving School DOES NOT CHARGE EXTRA FOR ADDITIONAL ENDORSMENT.

How old do you have to be to obtain CDL license?

Driver must be at least 18 years of age to drive a commercial motor vehicle within state lines, operator must be at least 21 years of age to drive a commercial motor vehicle across state lines. You also need to be 21 years old to transport hazardous materials or passengers.

What is a CDL class A license?

Class A CDL is a Commercial Driver’s License that allows you to drive any combination vehicle of in access of 26,000 pounds. A combination vehicle is a vehicle that has a pulling unit and a trailer or trailers (driver must have appropriate endorsements). Class A CDL is the highest category of a driver’s licenses and allows the holder to operate smaller vehicles (class B or class C).

What are the endorsements on a CDL?

Endorsements are required to haul certain types of cargo or to drive a combination vehicle with more than one trailer. Available endorsements are: passenger endorsement – to drive a bus, hazardous material endorsement – to allow transporting hazardous materials in the amount requiring placards, tanker endorsement, double-triple trailers. In order to obtain an endorsement on the CDL license a series of tests must be taken – mostly written. Passenger endorsement also requires an over the road test – driving a bus. Hazardous materials (Hazmat) endorsement requires to go through the background screening.
